PATIENT PARTNERSHIP GROUP
Minutes of virtual meeting 01.07.2024
Meeting Chair: JuM
Present: SL, JMcG, SF, BD and MB
Welcome to new Member: SB
1. Apologies: JC/DO, YT and CB
2. Minutes of last meeting
Accepted
3. Matters Arising
The committees decision was to continue with Hybrid meetings
4. Practice update
4.1 Staff changes
Two new reception staff, Bushra and Shelan – Thank you JMcG for attending Interviews. Both doing really well and PPG agreed they are good.
Replacement for Raj – Advert placed and JC will check with JMcG pre-interviews planned
Currently Raj is covered by regular locums (Usually MHC regular GPs and Dr Nikita Patel and Dr Alex Telfer)
The PPG are concerned about turnover of Drs. How do we compare with other surgeries?
4.2 Access
Recent dashboard shared by HCL shows which practices access PATCHS and the shared clinics provided elsewhere.
MHC patients are low users of services at other sites – indicating that Pts prefer to see MHC GP’s. MHC patients make use of the additional access clinics held at MHC for same day emergencies – seem to be a fair share with all PCN sites which is good and indicates our same day access to MHC GPs is good. MHC use PATCHS but not in high numbers, which means MHC patients use PATCHS but as an option NOT instead of calling reception/seeing a GP
Do we have Stats on response in time and outcomes. It was suggested that the Dr should use PATCHS as a message service to Pxs.
5. Stakeholders
5.1 No update from BH
5.2 Healthcare Central London PPG meeting has a change of date to 16th July. Jeanette will attend but no PPG members can make it.
6. NAPP Video
Not totally valid for us. The video shows other assistances to Pxs which we have not considered..
ACTION: Ask JC if there was anything that a group of Pxs would benefit from by an individual helping them with tasks etc.
7. Open meeting – Autumn 2024
“Do You Know That….?” to ask Pxs and for them to ask us things they are not certain about in regard to the services on offer. What would they like to happen. How informed do they feel? Would they be interested in assisting Pxs as needed. Social needs helped. Will need volunteers. Suggest we organise team of PPG members to man a desk on the busiest day(s) in a particular week to engage with those in the waiting area.
8. AOB
8.1 Physician Associates
We presume we do not have any Physician Associate and not intending to do so? SF to send article about the negative aspects of this role.
8.2 Newsletter
No-one gets it so could it be on front page of the website or can one sign up to have it emailed? Do we need one? What type of notification is possible?
8.3 Renewal of usual Rx – pharmacy initiated or Surgery?
Pharmacist – are they still on site if review is needed as one can’t get to speak to them? What is their rota? The Receptionist has over-rid the system for one or two PPG members to allow medication as no-one to speak to for 2 weeks. Basically PPG not happy with the situation.
